It'd be nice if it were true, but I fear our friend has it a bit backwards. Religion, particularly Christianity, is the biggest money-making venture in the history of humanity, from the time of the Crusades, when a heretic's worldly belongings became the property of the church and accusations of heresy were routinely bandied about by clerics in order to get their hands on the land and belongings of wealthy aristocrats, to today's Benny Hinns, Pope Benedicts, and Oral Roberts, and their ilk. Disgusting.

I just got an idea: non-faith healing!
We could stage a big meeting with lots of fancy lights, and then invite people with various ailments up to the stage. One at a time, they come up to me (I'm the MC/host, of course), emotionally tell the audience about what's wrong with them, and then with great purposefulness I put my hands on their head and shout...
"You're sick! Get to a doctor!"
Afterward, we pass the collection plate. However, instead of me keeping the money and buying a fancy watch from the guy Benny Hinn gets his from, it goes toward the medical care of all the people who came up on stage.

Oh really?
Look at this:
What did I say which was so bad that it had to be removed? Go ask them.
Atheists are inherently oppressive. Just try it with them and see.
Just look at how Atheists have treated me. They dont have one valid rational reason to charge me with any crime.
My only mistake was that I simply expressed myself freely and frankly on this forum.
Take a look yourself. They have oppressed my basic rights.
Atheists are anti-liberty. They claim freedom of expression, but they themselves are the first to deny it.
And even then Atheist are first to moan about holy books not giving free speech to their followers.
Thats utter hypocracy.
People of the world have seen Atheists for what they really are.
No wonder Atheism is dying.
Good riddance.

For the record and for what it's worth, been here a while, I would say 95% of the discourse I have been involved with on this website (in any of it's 345 versions) has been excellent, reflective and challenging. Rayback you are in my opinion in need of some reflection because being abrasive is not going to win you a lot of chums around any forum on any website.
A reporter is interviewing people on the street and approaches a man,
"Which issue do you feel is more important today, Ignorance or Apathy?"
The man paused for a moment and replied...
"I don't know and I don't care"
"If we don't believe in free speech for people we hate, we don't believe in it at all." Chomsky
I post on another forum, whywontgodhealamputees.com - Index (hope it is OK to post this) which has a special place to put those who transgress to give them a chance to redeem themselves. I works quite well for some and we get theists and atheists in there for anything from preaching to plagiarism and failing to quote other properly. It is an odd fact, though, that nearly everyone confined there claims it is unjust - unfair - against their religious beliefs - almost anything to avoid saying 'sorry, I'll not do that again!" which would have them back on the forums in no time.
We have had quite a few Muslims posting pseudo-science stuff and they all claim the forum is unfair. It is a shame they cannot be reformed as we need theists to debate with if they would only read the rules and keep to them like the rest of us do.
