    Default "I'm 5021 years old!"

I was talking to a friend of a friend on facebook...He seemed fairly normal until he pulled the bit at the end. I thought maybe you'd get a few laughs out of this, or maybe try to understand what he's saying...anyway, half of it is in French but it's fairly irrelevant so just ignore that bit.

Ah. Bien. Peut-etre tu me connais. Mais, je te connais pas, donque, je te demande. Alors, comment ca va?

I don't think I know you, maybe. I thought I did then took a closer look. Sorry! How are you...? Is french easier for you, or English?

Keaton Lavender Kell October 14 at 9:25pm Report
ah... Doesn't matter to me. I'm Irish. So neither! I'm far more poetic in English though. I'm good. Where would I know you from, were I to?

Abigail Vernon October 14 at 9:33pm
Through Glencoe...? I don't know. French is a bit easier for me, but English is good practice! So let's stick with English.

Keaton Lavender Kell October 14 at 9:34pm Report
Ah, I go to Fo Gro. Why is English good practice?

    It's my second language

Your first being French I suppose. So does that make you Canadian or French? Or Swiss from the French Quartier perhaps? Or... Le Cote D'Ivoir?

    Btw, j'aime manger les portemanteau.

Abigail Vernon October 14 at 10:11pm
You love to eat it? What? Haha, is french a second language? :P

I was born in France :P

Keaton Lavender Kell October 15 at 5:51pm Report
I was born 5012 years ago, in Ireland. So I suppose everything is a second language. But I've only recently repicked up french. And yes. I like to eat coathangers. My favorite thing about french is saying absolutely ridiculous things. Then drawing them. Je te leche. Il faut que tu mange l'ecureuil parce que les enfants en Afrique ont faim. I forget that one. Anyhow. Where in France were you born? And why?

    Uh, dude. Cut the bullshit.

    I don't understand.

Born in 5021? I stick to science, and science fairly clearly dissproves that. Are you role playing...?

5012* actually, but the exact numbers more of a guestimation. I don't understand, roleplaying? And of all things, you should never stick to science. It's very difficult to prove. Religion is much easier. You don't have to think for that. It's much simpler, what is is what you believe is. Fantastic I think. Disproves everything. Science? What has that done? I mean sure, fanastic inventions and whatnot, but honestly, we still can't prove gravity. Not that I care. I can't feel gravity, so who's to say it exists. And don't disagree, you can't feel it either.

Abigail Vernon October 15 at 9:16pm
Gravity exists because when you drop something, it's pulled to the ground. Really, try it. You and I both know you were probably born somewhere between 1990 and 1994. Science is much more than just inventions, dear. We've proved the exsistance of a different species of human that lived millions of years ago. Proved that air is a mix of oxygen and hydrogen, Science is responsible for everything we know. Religion causes much more harm than it does good, millions of people believe in something so ludicrous and false, it's incredibly depressing, if not completely psychotic. You need to stop lying to yourself and making up such elaborate stories in your head. It's not good for your emotional mind to live in such a surreal universe. I'm going to stop talking to you because your out right audacity to believe that I'D believe something so factious is rather insulting. Somebody's read Twilight one too many times, and let me tell you...it's not me.

Hope you grow out of your...phase. "

    No idea dude. No idea.

I've heard of people saying the Earth is around 6000 years old, but never themselves. That is... interesting.

I dunno though, the guys seems legit. He did point out how you don't need to think for religion, it's just simpler. Compelling evidence if I do say so myself, after all what good has thought ever done for the world?
Faith, n. Belief without evidence in what is told by one who speaks without knowledge, of things without parallel.
Religion, n. A daughter of hope and fear, explaining to ignorance the nature of the unknowable.
Philosophy, n. A route of many roads leading from nowhere to nothing.

I know right. That's what confused me, he was trying to portray himself as so wise and intelligent... Haha. That's funny, though, because Rayback was saying how atheists tend to be intellectually lazy, this guy actually admits that it's quite the opposite :P

Exactly. Why do we need an atheist discussion forum when people like this make the case for us over and over again?

No kidding. I can't help but wonder, maybe he was using common Christian conceptions to, in turn, make fun of Christianity? Presumably not, though. I try to give people too much credit. He probably meant it, probably thought he was being super wise and unique about it too. That's kind of the ora he gave off. I think he was trying to charm me at first too. Him saying "I eat coat hangers" in poor french wasn't exactly enough to make me want to jump in the sack with him, though. The older I get, the more people I talk to (the majority of them being of faith) the more I hate people. One day someone is going to tell me I need to go to Church and save myself from my devlish and evil ways, and I'm going to snap, go postal and blow up some churches or something. I fear for my sanity, haha. Thank science for AD though, it may just be one of few things keeping me sane in a world of bat-shit crazy people. (I use the term sane loosely :P )
