It does seem to indicate a drop in attendance, doesn't it? I think that is probably a good thing because it would seem to indicate people are wising up.

The same thing is happening here in northern Ontario. The Catholic diocese has closed about 30 churches across the area.

Strange, the last count, Yukon was the least devout in the country, but no churches closing.

While Christian church buildings may be selling for bargain basement prices, other religions are not suffering from declines in attendance. The Muslim religion is adding new adherents all the time (mostly from a high birth rate amongst its members). Religion dying? Not as far as I can tell. Seems like I'm being forced to endure more of its nonsense than ever before, in emails especially, and even at work where Christians are much more open about their beliefs than in the past.
I think a lot of Christians are opting to attend larger churches in cities further away from home, rather than local churches, to enjoy the "entertainment" of popular guest speakers and Christian musical bands. They are also looking for the evangelical enthusiasm they see on television instead of a less talented local pastor giving dull scriptural lessons. Evangelicals are often very critical of the less zealous attitudes of more reasonable scholars and will travel some distance to associate with similarly deluded folk.

I spoke too soon anyway, we have lost 3 churches (yea), all torn down for condos or something.
But with a huge guest worker program, the catholics even got a priest that speaks tagalog due to a huge increase in worshippers.
