Thanks Blondin. I will let you know how it goes.

If I had to guess, I think we'll be able to come out of the meeting with an interim executive and about 4 dedicated members. But, I really have no idea.

    Hey Guys,

So, the meeting went pretty good, but we just didn't have enough people that were willing to sign up as an executive, thus a Calgary chapter couldn't be established. It's the usual catch-22 situation: people want to see action first, but nobody is willing to initiate it.

So, right now, I'm looking for two things:
-A few more people willing to take on executive positions
-Substance & content for monthly meetings

Even though we don't have a chapter, we can have monthly meetings here in Calgary to keep people interested, and give current members a chance to bring new people along to a meeting. But, we don't have any content or substance. I've been looking into having a live feed from the Edmonton chapter, or using video-conferencing software to be involved. We'll know by the 11th whether that is a go.

If that comes together, then we can just have our meetings the same time as Edmonton and piggyback on what they have already. This would establish something regular. Then, it's just a matter of getting more people.

I've also found a few more interested people that would probably come out to a next meeting.

On the 23rd of June, we established a Calgary chapter of Fair Vote.

We won't be doing much during the summer, but it was great to have it established so we could do some of the leg work.

    Things we're looking at:
-Organizing cross-Alberta talks with mock elections to show people how PR systems work
-Creating a strategy and plan of action. We will bring this to other politicians and organizations for support.
    -Fund raising

If anyone is interested and lives in Calgary, feel free to give me a shout.
