Have Canadians Lost Their Minds?

The Liberals are offering one of the most advantageous platforms that the middle class has seen in a decade, and yet so many Canadians continue to poll as Conservative supporters.

The polls show that the majority of Canadians feel that the fighter jets are ill-timed and that we don't need them right now, yet Canadians support the Conservatives.

The Liberals offer $1 billion towards post-secondary education, over $500 million to help create a national childcare plan, and millions more for pension reform. They want to offer $4k to every student to help towards tuition, and $6k for students from low-income families. Liberals clearly want to extend our social safety net to ensure Canadians are taken care of. As Iggy says, providing the granite under your feet so that you are able to make it.

Have Canadians simply gone brain dead for so many supporting Harper? Or are we living in a country that bows to fear instead of hope? Thoughts?

I think it's a combination of two things. First, attack ads work really really well, especially on senior citizens who don't have the desire or ability to think things through and would rather say "I don't trust them Liberals, he just came back to Canada to be Prime Minister, not because he cares". Secondly people see Canada's emergence from the global recession as being relatively strong and attribute that to the current government, rather then to policies put in place by previous governments. It's the same problem, though in reverse, that the Democrats are having in the US.

However, we desperately need new fighter jets. I don't agree with much of the Conservative platform but that is one thing that they're getting right. If Canada wants to maintain relevancy in NATO and UN military missions we need a capable Air Force. As Libya is showing, the future of warfare is not boots on the ground but rather bombing campaigns and no fly zones and therefor in order to ensure the safety and efficiency of Canadian pilots, stealth technology is a requirement. That said, pay for those jets by not giving tax breaks to the rich.

I don't believe the PC's are our new gov't, it seems like a Liberal minority to me.

Larry Bagnell is an acquaintance, as are I suppose many in such a small territory (population wise). The green party guy is actually a neighbour, and his wife is one of my best buddies. I have a Green sign in my driveway. The conservative is as stupid as the last election, this time a cage fighter, boxer type, 4 years ago a lottery winner from ontario.

Eric Neilsen, the goofy guys brother was our MLA for Years, then Audrey Mclaughlen the NDP leader for a few years, now Larry has been a voice of reason for a few years. Go Green, or liberal, I like musicians, but as politiciains?

If I were running, I would first push forward an administrative law for elections canada that requires candidates to run their campaign with absolute honesty, requiring a third party to create any advertising for the media and steering clear from smear campaigns.

If you can't win the vote on what you have to bring to the table, winning by what they don't, you're no better then the opposition.

Negative attack ads are something that convinces me NOT to vote for a party. You are right, it just shows
the party's lack of leadership, they are looking across the playground and just taunting with no substance.
