Default Richard Dawkins and Brian Eno: Together at last

In this thread concerning copyright, we got to talking about Brian Eno, a prolific and creative musical engineer behind many famous artists, and a musician in his own right. For example, he single-handedly created the genre of "ambient music" while laid up in bed after a car accident some time in the late seventies. He has many styles and many beautiful albums, but my favourites are "Drawn From Life", "The Pearl", "Nerve Net", "Another Day on Earth", and "Before and After Science".

We all know Dawkins, who has a new book about evolution coming out next month, billed as "the open and shut case for evolution".

Well, it seems two of my favourite individuals are joining forces. This is the last thing I expected, but Brian Eno and Richard Dawkins will be in conversation together on September 4, 2009 at the Oxford Playhouse. I wish I were in the UK then.

wow, what a surprising and dynamic pairing of two amazing minds! If you look at their photos, they really look like they could be family relations or something. I guess they have very English facial structures

Eno has many styles indeed. I was first introduced to Eno's more rock-oriented solo work from the 70's and have yet to explore his more ambient styles. Even his rock music was really ahead of its time. One of my favourite albums ever is Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy).

Yeah, that's a great album. I've also read that "King's Lead Hat" from "Before and After Science" touched off the punk genre, so he's responsible indirectly for that as well. (Should I be impressed or annoyed?)

Funny you mention their similar appearance. I thought exactly the same thing.
