Here's a clip from a British series, Mitchell and Webb (I hope I managed to post the video correctly). My favourite part is the evolution reference at the end!

LOL! Love it! I'm going to start buying watermellon.
SO SO funny!!! Thanks!
I've been seeing more and more religious criticism in the media. It seems people are starting to get used to the idea that religion is dubious. A few things I've seen that are doing these criticisms:
Religulous
Family guy
Mitchel and webb
Angels and demons
I wish someone would make a movie called "passion of Moses" and show all the things he did in the bible in the old testament. It would be interesting to see what people think of the old testament without the sugar coating.
Truth Seeker or Opinion Enforcer?

Zen, I'm not sure about it being new,
St. George made fun of religion publically
for years, Monty Python were great for it as well.
But I think you are right though, that it is becomming noticed.
Mr Carlin started making fun of catholics in the 70's. Perhaps
the saps did not notice until now.
" Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? "
- Epicurus

I agree with choSenfroZen that it's always been out there, perhaps more so in subversive comedy than anything else. in the past decade or so it seems like atheism has become more prominent as a 'serious' topic in mainstream media, thanks to the proliferation of books and popularity of documentaries.
I just did search and found a similar discussion on another atheist forum (http://www.rationalresponders.com/forum/13002). there's a lot of stuff that I still haven't checked out, so thanks to you guys, I'm going to start by finally watching Religulous this week and re-acquaint myself with some classic Carlin moments on youtube![]()

Here's another Mitchell & Webb routine about the Good Samaratin:
