    I think there are a lot of americans who lie in response to those
    questions, or they just automatically say baptists when asked, because
    thats where their parents went. Some may be afraid to tell the truth.

    I'm afraid the majority of people still can't come to terms with reconciling science and their beliefs. Although I find this as disturbing as anyone else on this forum, it's just how it is with being such a complex and paradoxical creature as the homo sapien!

    A few years ago, I came across this fascinating essay online called "Tetrahedral Man":

    It basically explores why humans are still so stupid and irrational despite our relative intelligence compared to other animal species and advances in knowledge and technology. Despite the main title, it is a very scientific essay, and only uses objectivism for philosophical context.
