    Default A little disapointed

    Hi,

I thought or hoped that an atheist discussion forum would have a lot of atheists discussing stuff.

By my first tentative glance it seems there are many religious people trolling the forum.
I never register on Christian forums and try to leave my thumb print on their fora, so why do they come here to troll?

Also I see that there is not a whole lot going on. Only a few posts are from today or even yesterday. Is this forum alive?

Anyway I am here now and I want to read interesting post and discuss them, but I really came here to get away from the endless religious debates with retarded proponents of faith.
I wanted to talk to real people for a change.

It's kinda slow right now, but there are a few of us who check things regularly. Mainly, I respond when I see something that interests me.

    Welcome aboard!

    Welcome Trefod,
there are people here , I ,like yourself am peeved at all the religious trolling as well. They seem to believe we are here to be save or some rot.

There are numerous active members, but we do seem a bit quiet.

    Post your opinion.

    Hi, Trefod. Welcome aboard.

We definitely need some stimulating here. Please feel free to stimulate us.

Trefod finds it morally offensive that “religious people”, who he gratuitously judges to be “retarded”, and not “real people”, express their views on this site.
He apparently feels that it is unreasonable to find a variety of perceptions about the existence/non existence of God and the implications of such views, in a discussion forum on atheism. But he does not offer suggestions as to “stuff” to discuss.

anyone discussing most anything is welcome. I know of what he speaks though, attempting to convert an atheist is pretty dumb. Preaching is not really welcome, but how would we know who is just spouting in apprehension as they begin to ask questions on their way to non religious freedom, and who is the evangelical? Unlike him I do troll the religious forums, and I do leave "my thumb print on their flora", I spend time attmpting to get others there to "see the light", observe all the fiction and fights and try to get them here for more discussion. Never been successful that I know of, but it sure is fun trying, even if it is probably as dumb as those trying to get me back to the houses of jeebus fiction.

I don't even mind so much if someone wants to proselytize as long as they get the message when they're told to stop. I have always had an interest in finding out the basis for people's beliefs, particularly people who claim to have had a major shift in their beliefs. I'm a sucker for conversion stories even though I have yet to hear one that makes any sense.

I don't mind someone trying to convince me to see things their way as long as they make honest logical arguments but so far every religious argument I've heard eventually reduces to a form of Pascal's wager if not simply floundering in childishly ridiculous assertions (like that Parture cretin).

I have personally been responsible for the 'De-conversion' of at least a handful of Christian fundamentalists(even full on Creationists) using rational argument but never by trolling them. I think I understand what the OP is saying and it is not that people with theistic beliefs should not have views, but rather that s/he find someplace that is not more of the same, tired 'They proselytize, we present evidence and argument. They proselytize, we present facts...' ad nauseum.

Yes, but I also believe an atheist group provides a target for those of us that goofy proselytizer's think strongly that we need saving. It must be a bit of missionary in some folks. Then again I am not shy about announcing to the religious that I strongly believe their bringing children to church constitutes abuse.
