Where should I move? Here is everything that I am looking for on these two pages. I just mean a location. I can't move yet as my education is not finished and I am not even old enough to have a drivers License.

I would like pros and cons of the location.

I would also like to not just read about animals and such but see the stuff first hand. Watch a wolf pack take down a moose, see a snow owl grab a rabbit. I don't like the killing, but you can never really know what it is like unless you watch it yourself. I love nature and would maybe like to even film it.

ChoSenfroZen, How long would it take for an ambulance to get out there? Where and how far away is the nearest hospital? How often does the wildlife come to your house? What would you say is the average year round temp there? You are selling me pretty good, but I need to know the cons just as much as the pros."

Its honourable to dislike intolerence, something most canuks actually agree on.

A wolf taking a moose, very shy those wolves, saw it years ago by spotting scope from the house, and
once off the Dempster highway, a pack uncomfortably close to brought a calf down just across a
narrow river. Last week an eagle swooped in front of me and took I believe a neighbours cat.
My favorite daughters pet ducks were taken by a wolverine three or four winters ago. This winter
an old wolf(when the boss gets displaced, by age or injury, he's out) was taking dogs right off the
chains in the yard, 10 or 12 dogs and I think only 1 person actually saw him.

Thie things you seem to be looking for can be had anywhere in North America
through the rural parts of the US, or at least the northern and western portions I have explored
all have quiet, clean air, little traffic and wildlife. Southern Canada as well, a few weeks ago on
Vancouver Island I heard about another cougar attack.
I meet all sorts of americans, and just like people from anywhere else it has always seemed to me
than most are pretty normal, and with 300 million americans there must be a huge portion that
    isn't intolerant.

Ambulance, here its a 45 min drive each way, in WHitehorse there is a fairly large hospital.
AS for time, it all depends on distance from the town. You can live in town, and small lots spread
like weeds from there. I guess our place is the furthest out for a commute to Whitehorse, 66km.
But there are several small communities all around, either associated with the Alaska hwy, or the Gold
rush (Dawson City) or big mining. There are places where it could take days or never for
    an ambulance.
There is always friggin animals around, I need a fan because the ducks, swans, geese and whatever honk
honk honk all spring on the lake, the the a-hole squirrels and chirpy birds start. Shift work! Seriously though
yes enough wildlife around to amaze and sometimes scare a bit. We ALWAYS have pepper spray and a bat
by each door, cept the burglars are black bears, they can be real problems. There was a pair several mornings
lurking while I was putting the kids on the bus this spring.
The wildlife is enough as to be a major traffic factor, either through the tourists taking pictures or
just as a hazard themselves being on the road.
    The temps in the winter range from -40 F and C to occasional 0 C / 32F
    Summer occasional 30 C/ 86 F with I suppose an average day in the summer 20 C / 68 F.
24 hour daylight now, with corresponding darkness 6 months later.
The cons are bugs and they all seem determined to either chew a hole to lap your blood, or like mosquitos insert
needles for blood. Sooo many people cannot handle the dark in winter, and 40 below zero, crap tires are square
on vehicles, which you only notice if you can get thing started.
Everything is more expensive, and you have to travel to travel.

I'm starting to have more and more doubts about the US's policies. I'm getting the feeling that this place is about to do a "fall of Rome" style collapse and I want to be clear of the blast when it happens. I'm going to go put in my appliation for passport today and I'm looking into this program for all those who are interested.

I can understand your wanting to move here, but I wouldn't say that the US is going to fall like Rome yet. You're talking about a complete collapse of civilization! If that should happen to the US I don't think that Canada, especially the way it is right now (for instance, with so much of our trade being with the States), would go unscathed...

Do you have any preferences about the kind of place where you would want to live? i.e.: big city, middle of nowhere, by the sea, etc...

If big cities aren't your thing but you don't want to be too far from civilization I can recommend Ontario's near north. To Torontonians we're "somewhere up near the arctic circle" but in actual fact we're located at about 47 degrees north. Most of the Canada/US border runs along the 49th parallel so we are still south of the vast majority of Canada (and some parts of the US).

We're suburb folks I think. Like to be out of the city, but close enough to go for a visit without too much of a drive. I've been attracted to Vancouver for most of my life so that's probably where we'll go visit as a possible place to live in the future. I really want to live on the west coast, near-ish to the ocean would be nice.

Fall of Rome is a bit dramatic, and I'm sure it won't be nearly so exciting. What I do see is that we are slipping further and further from the idea behind America and we can't take a whole lot more direct hits to the constitution before it's no longer the document it started out as (if it still is). I don't know what America is turning into but all signs point to shit. Canada is probably not the best place to hide, but it's a step up (lol geography pun!). Eventually I would like to learn some more languages and possibly move to Europe. I have a lot of perspective countries right now, but I refuse to move if I don't speak the language. It's just rude.

My theory is that America isn’t going to collapse but rather it will be taken over the way one company will absorb another. We’re going to keep selling our dollars to China until they own more of our economy than we do. If America falls it will be quiet and subtle. Like you say, Canada (and much of the world) relies on America right now for trade and so if it just went under the whole world would suffer. Rather than let it collapse, the control will simply change hands.

OK, I see what you really mean is that the political situation is decaying. As I think you said earlier, the government is on sale to the highest bidder. Funnily enough, moralizing Roman writers and orators said similar things about their government, especially in the last days of the Republic. We all know how that turned out... If you're curious I can dig out some examples for you.

Sounds like you've made up your mind. I'm originally from the Far East (Newfoundland) and have never been much further west than Winnipeg, but I would be curious to see that part of the country sometime. I think all the rain in Vancouver would drive me mad though!

That's actually what made me want to move there in the first place. I've always loved rain. I was really little when I found out that the west coast (especially Seattle-Vancouver) were known for high rain fall. After that I was sold.
