The Jesus of the Bible was NOT a good person. Watch this video for a very nice explanation of how Jesus fails being a good person: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MMdKfYRvak

It is much faster to just click on the link that they give at the end of part 1.

    To everyone else,

I'll reply to everything that I haven't(witch is most of it) in a day or so. I'm just real busy right now.
    Christian Soldier,

I finally had a chance to look at these. Were these supposed to be the videos you mentioned here in the OP?

sorry Christian Soldier, I have avoided this thread because of the questions,
you seem to be concerned that knocking god is a moral question or putting god
    in an incorrect status personally.

ANd it makes me think like Louis, in a previous post that you just think
we are just being stubborn, and perhaps if you holy holy us enough we will
    be cured.

It must have occured to you by now that a portion of us are nothing more than
irreverant a-holes, especially when it comes to your incredibly evil god. Saying bad
things about him causes me great joy. Your god if he exists is an asshole! I would put
my cats dirty litter before him(or her) any day.
I spend as much time as possible taking god's name emptily(I thought he had no name).

You bet I work on sundays, I even get a shift bonus for doing so.
ANd even christians fly on sunday, someone has to talk to them.

Kill someone, my my , was this an accident, on purpose what? I have never killed anyone,
but I do know a few people who have been in accidents where death has occured, it makes them depressed
and sad, but not a bad person.
Angry without cause, technically yes, being mad over a misunderstanding, yep been there,
    done that.

WHen I was a young turd and living at home, hell yes I disrespected the parents,
it was the 70's and as I have noticed with teenagers, they know EVERYTHING, and tend to hassle the parents,
so what I grew out of it, (as I hope mine will)

#7 almost my bio, screwed around, yea not proud of it, but the 2nd wife was a real piece of work,
but that was 30 years ago and only once( and not with the current wife).
And the last part of that (as if it has anything to do with being good), yes twice divorced, 3rd time I
married the real one and she had been divorced.

As a kid I was quite the shoplifter, I'll bet ya I got away 5 or 6 bucks in choco bars, do I feel bad, now yes,
then no. Still I didn't turn into public enemy number 1, and somehow broke that monkey off my back by the time I was 10.

Lying, sort of way of life, white lies protect people, bosses like to hear everything is okay, even
when it isn't. Bad things happen and you sometimes have to take a loved one in your arms and tell
them everything is okay, and it isn't, sorry buddy I sometimes think lying is a good thing. Not always,
    but it has it's place.

Covet any thing, it's like your lust question before, summertime, girls and women everywhere, wearing
way less than the winter around here, just today, in town for some shopping before work,
my tougue has asphalt burns. I also have been on my 7 day shift cycle, one more night and I really covet my wife. Bad person, don't think so.

I think the point of this test is that no one ever passes it. If people did on a regular basis then there would be no need for religion. This is a common tactic to try and make people convert. You convince them that they are human garbage because of all these "evil" things they did their whole life without realizing it was wrong. You scare someone into thinking they are a bad person so they'll be easier to convert. Break down their self esteem so that they feel only a higher power can possibly save their souls.

When I was little my aunt told me something that always stuck. I asked her why she wasn't going to church. She told me: If missing church is all it takes to go to hell then I'm already screwed.

It made me realize that no one is perfect, and the standard is not actually achievable. If people were able to feel they lived up to the standard already they wouldn't be dependent on religion anymore.

Morals and "good behaviour" are down to one thing - Human Reputation.

As humans we crave a good reputation amongst our peers. It's a psychological reason and we can see it throughout time.

    Here's an example:

Say if your brother/sister asked you to borrow some money off you. It's to pay for something that they need, say a new pair of shoes. You lend that sibling the money, not because the words of some holy book told you, but because you love that sibling as you have grown up with that person from birth and you wouldn't want them to see them go without nothing on their feet. Now, you doing that act of kindness will reflect how your sibling see's you and how they act in the future. It also builds trust between you and the sibling.

This has developed since we were in tribes, dotted around the globe. We only trusted the ones in our tribe. However, due to evolution of the human brain (we are the most intelligent know species on the planet) we have developed this behaviour into today's society (through extended family, friend and even work colleagues).

However, somewhere along the line, religion has come in and adopted this behaviour as good will learnt from God. No, this isn't the case at all. It's like a form of plagerism infact.

This isn't just natural to humans.
Wolves travel in packs. They trust each other and they know that working together will help them achieve alot more. They just haven't reached a state of consciously knowing that like we do today. And they haven't evolved enough to extend their packs into different packs (as we have today)

I here the statements "There are lots of good people in this world" or "I am a good person" so much on TV, in books, etc. So I have a way to resolve this. Lets take a test. If you are truly a good person then you should be able to ace this with flying colors. Just rate yourself on a percentage. I have to tell you though, I have never seen one person pass this test. Yes this is a ten commandment based test(and with the teachings of Jesus). The ones that have more than one part, according to the Bible you will be guilty of the first if you do any of them. So basically, they are the same thing in God's eyes. If you have done either in the ones with two question you missed the question.

    1. Have you ever had anything placed above God? Even if you don't believe in God, you can still have something before him.

    2. Have you ever made something so that you could have it before God?

    3. Have you ever used God's name emptily.

    4. Have you ever worked on Sunday?

    5. Have you ever disrespected you father or mother?

    6. Have you ever killed someone? Also, but in the same question, have you ever been angry with someone without cause?

    7. Have you ever committed adultery? Also, but in the same question, have you ever lusted after someone? Have you ever married someone that has been divorced, divorced someone, or married after you have been divorced?

    8. Have you ever stolen anything, no matter the value.

    9. Have you ever lied?

    10. Have you ever coveted anything?
evangelicals seeking converts often try to get personal information in order to use them to convert the unbeliever and being nosy about thier personal lives nobody owes you their personal information
