Quebec Bans Religious Instruction in Daycares

Attachment 277The Quebec provincial government has responded to the question of publicly funded religious day cares by banning religious instruction. Family Minister Tony Tomassi stated that "From now on, religious instruction will no longer be accepted in the daycare network subsidized by the Family Department".

At present, there are 20 provincially funded religious day cares in Quebec but Tomassi would not comment on whether he would withdrawal their permits.
