• Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg to become a wanted felon in Pakistan over Draw Muhammad Day

Attachment 319Last month we posted a brief article about the Draw Muhammad Day counter protest that was a response to the Muslim uprising against South Parks depiction of Muhammad. As the drama continues to unfold, recently Pakistan's Deputy Attorney General has initiated the first stage of an investigation and prosecution of Zuckerberg, claiming he is responsible for a heinous crime. According to Section 295-C of the Pakistani criminal code, Zuckerberg can be punished by death or life imprisonment:
"Use of derogatory remark etc, in respect of the Holy Prophet, whoever by words, either spoken or written, or by visible representation, or by any imputation, innuendo, or insinuation, directly or indirectly, defiles the sacred name of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) shall be punished with death, or imprisonment for life, and shall also be liable for fine."
According to Boxcrack.net, a hearing scheduled for this coming July 12th may result in Zuckerberg becoming a wanted felon of the state.

Another example of how important it is to protect our rights to freedom of speech and oppose "hate speech" laws. Any time a government is allowed to make decisions on what speech/publication is to be permitted this type of abuse is possible. If you want freedom to draw Mohammad in an unflattering pose, or freedom to ridicule a religious belief, you must expect that someone else might want to draw or state something you find offensive. That's how freedom works.

I guess Pakistan is starting to go the way of China. They're banning websites because all they can do anymore is censor people. In doing so, they can create a melting pot of their own ideology.
