• Christian Family Research Council co-founder caught with male escort

    Following in the foot steps of Ted Haggard, a prominent Christian leader was caught with a male escort recently as he took a ten day vacation to Europe. George Rekers, a neuro-psychiatrist, also co-founded the anti-gay Family Research Council with James Dobson.

    Rekers claims he hired the escort to help him carry luggage, however, email evidence shows otherwise.

    In addition, Rekers is the author of "Growing Up Straight: What Families should Know about Homosexuality" and is also a prominent anti-gay advocate in Florida where he has previously testified against allowing gay couples to adopt children.

      I think this is a case of what is called the "self fulfilling prophecy" in the human rights framework. What that means is that although he is gay, he has instead accepted the invalidation myths and ideologies that he shouldn't be gay and has lied to himself. In turn, he has joined with the majority to try and invalidate the minority when he himself is actually part of that minority.

      Rekers is a bigot who has enjoyed a great financial benefit from preying upon the vulnerable and pandering to the prejudice and fear of fundamentalist Christians. This episode with a male escort is similar to pre-civil war plantation owners having their way with black slave girls.

      In a Huffington Post article there is mention of Rekers having offers from friends and family to help with luggage. He did not need to hire anyone to accompany him. What a lame excuse!
