Attachment 276You may recall a stir up in the Muslim world a few years back when Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks drew a picture of prophet Mohammed's head on the body of a dog. This picture was originally slated to be shown at an art exhibit which was hosting dog themed art. Sadly, the picture was not permitted due to security concerns but fortunately it made a public debut in a Danish newspaper.
After the image was published, controversy ensued, eventually turning into a worldwide protest of Muslims. Al Qaeda put a $100,000 bounty on Vilks' head, another $50,000 on the editor-in-chief of the publishing paper, and the Danish Embassy in London saw a large turn out of demonstrators protesting Vilks artwork. Some protesters even went as far as raising signs saying "Slay those who insult Islam".
After a few years of cool-down time, it seems that the drama continues. Yesterday seven Muslims were arrested in Ireland over an alleged plot to assassinate Vilks. According to the dailymailk.co.uk, the men and women were aged from mid 20s to late 40s and can be held for up to seven days.
