I know a lot of people who proclaim themselves Atheist, Agnostic, Non Theist, or (in the case of my Grandmother) "what fucking difference does it make?" who proclaim to believe in ghosts. By definition a ghost is an extension of a human that continues after death via a "soul".

Me though, I doubt and am skeptical of the existence of souls and/or ghosts but there's not conclusive evidence to outright deny them.
Faith, n. Belief without evidence in what is told by one who speaks without knowledge, of things without parallel.
Religion, n. A daughter of hope and fear, explaining to ignorance the nature of the unknowable.
Philosophy, n. A route of many roads leading from nowhere to nothing.

On top of that, many non-theistic religions (e.g. Jainism, some forms of Buddhism) also believe in some form of soul.

    Maybe I'm a Jainest ??

    1. I have a soul
    2. I believe that the letters (as spoken in Exodus 3:14) as "YH-HW" creates all there is, and exists in all things.
    3. The spoken letters YH-Sh-WH represent a physcical creation that teaches the WAY, the Truth and Life.

If you read them, every single letter spoken by YH-Sh-WH create words on fire.

Especially in the Hebrew Gospels of Matthew (Nazareans) and Gospel of Thomas.

Do you believe in the concept of dharma, not believe in a divine creator, and consider non-violence (including vegetarianism and in some cases even abstinence from root vegetables) to be a central tenet of your faith?

If not, then I doubt you're a Jain... especially if you're not sure yourself. However, I'm not about to try to dictate to you what your religion is or isn't.

    Hi metatron,

According my point of sight, The brain and Consciousness are two links which are inseparable with each other.
Consciousness is a part of Brain activity as conscious mind is a mind in which there is learning process occur in the brain like driving a car at a first time , it remember each and every signal. If we remove one thing from this combination then the one will not survive. Above reference is a very controversial way to refer to the hypothesis. While we may not understand much about the way our personality/ego/soul/consciousness resides in or is generated by our brain we have no reason to believe that it doesn't do so. If fact there are a great many indications that it does. Believe that your brain works in Consciousness area.

    Thanks

Or so it seems that way from the atheists I have met here on this forum.

So far - All seem to agree that porn is ok. And that they do not have a soul.
I concur with Keifer in that there is no real Atheist viewpoint other than not believing in god. Atheists sometimes tend to have similar stances because they usually use similar paths to come to the same conclusion.

Also, this reasoning fits nowhere in any definable stance. Even a physicalist would care about a late loved one's body because it still is the vessel of the late person.

And don't even get me started on pornography...

But, this is all getting away from the topic. I actually just wanted to post a couple of videos on consciousness and see what people thought
