Hi People. Im new here so be nice.

I've been reading some forums on this website and this post has grabbed my interest the most.

I believe what Saeed is trying to say is that Atheists are unable to believe, therefore to BELIEVE in the future existance of self and of the future of the Universe is impossible for an atheist. You would have to be a believer of some sort.

Well Saeed you are wrong there.
Firstly because I, and all other Atheists can't believe in the future existance of ourselves, logically neither should you (I have to say, I think that the state after death is going to be the same as before birth - nothing.) Once you die, that's it. This life isn't a rehearsal; it's not a time for "judgement" from a "divine one", that's just ludicrous to believe that. You might aswell believe that when a person reaches the age of 10, they can start hunting Pokémon - it'd be stupid to believe that. Pokémon don't exist, just a figment of someones imagination.

Secondly, we base the future of the Universe on what we see and perceive today, through modern science. We could be totally wrong, but that's the beauty of science - they can admit they're wrong, take on board the truth and move on feeling enlightened. Religion has trouble doing that (evidently with Saeed and Parture).
Just because we don't know what the future of the Universe holds, doesn't mean we should all start believing that a "divine" holds the future of the Universe. That's ridiculous. That's purely filling holes with non-evident babble.
Saeed, admit, like the rest of us Atheists, that deep down you truely don't know what the future holds, both for the Universe and for yourself. However, Atheists are willing to take that fact at face value. You're just scared enough to take on which ever medium comforts you the most. Or that you've been indoctrinated so much by religion from such an early age that your mind is now free from free thinking.

On the ironic side of this, i said at the start of this "I believe what Saeed is trying to say is..." does that mean im no longer an atheist? Sorry, im over-analysing my own words now...

Default Disbelief in the Creator is just Belief in the Death: Victims of Self-deception.

Since you and others, who do claim to be atheists, are devoted to the future by investing your past and present for it .eg., thru education, business, job, work, investigation, thought and even discussions like this; it means that such atheists actually believe in the future existence of self and of the universe and therefore are not true atheists. This also means that such atheists do believe in the God but, are just the victims of self-deception. Belief in the God does essentially entail the study, investigation and belief in the reliable scripture(s) and subsequent belief in the afterlife.

Saeed, you have totally by-passed what I have said.

I said logically it's impossible for anyone, Atheist or not, to believe in future existence of self and the Universe. We have NO IDEA what's going to happen to ourselves in the future of our lives and of the future of the Universe. What we do is simply guess (if you will) based on EVIDENCE we have today from modern science, to judge what will happen to the Universe and nowhere in this science does it suggest a "divine creator". Just because we don't know for sure, doesn't mean that we should all believe some uncreated creator, as you so put it, created us and holds the future for our self existance and the existance of the Universe.
It's part of your human psychology to want comfort - it's natural, which is how religion blossoms so well. They give you very nice lies to keep your mind at ease, which is totally wrong. However, when someone (like Atheists) challenge these comfortable lies, with logic, evidence and reason, religion doesn't like it. It's like trying to take away a child's favourite blanket for a brand new clean one; they won't give it up without a fight.

Oh and there's nothing reliable about these scriptures you talk of.

    What a crock of shit.

I assume (with a great deal of certainty) that my life, my work, my children, my friends, the world, etc will all continue on tomorrow nearly exactly as they have today. I have made this assumption pretty much every day of my life and the fact that I have been proven correct every day (so far) without any evidence of divine guidance or intervention only convinces me of the even greater certainty that gods exist only in the fevered imaginations of the self-deluded or tyrannical control freaks.

You keep making the same ridiculous, unsubstantiated claim without providing any evidence or supporting explanation. You're playing silly word games. It is obvious that the word "believe" has a very different meaning to me than it does to you. I can provisionally accept the apparent truth of something and amend my understanding in the light of new information. I do not petulantly demand that reality conforms to some bronze-age wet-dream.

Believing in the future doesn't mean you believe in God.

It doesn't make it true by re-posting it every time you come back to the forum.

    S:
Without sincere belief in the future existence of self and of the universe nothing is real, neither the human life nor the universe (including the scientific evidence), other than the death. This means that there is no alternative to belief in the creator of the universe for belief in the reality i.e., belief in the creator of the universe is the most essential need of the human life. In other words the creator of the universe is the absolute reality and every thing else is dependent upon him for the evidence of its existence.

Unsubstantiated and demonstrably false horse shit.

I'll allow that there may be a grand architect/cosmic tinkerer who may have played some role in the origins of life/the universe (as we understand it) only because it seems impossible to prove there isn't. But I have yet to hear of any compelling evidence that the claims of Islam, Christianity, Judaism or any other faith are anything but wishful thinking of the feeble minded or wet dreams of tyrannical control freaks.

You can repeat your little mantra as many times as you like but it will be no more true on the billionth iteration than it was on the first.

This is not a "mantra" but a fact which you cannot refute.

On Jan 20, 1968 my dog ate my homework. That's a fact which you cannot refute.

Therefore a certain geography teacher owes me an apology.

Since you cannot sincerely believe in your future existence without the belief in the creator then, whatever your "geography teacher owes" to you is also not real.
