    If you are Catholic, you can formally defect under the Actus formalis defectionis ab Ecclesia catholica. Atheist Ireland has a site with information on this (although some of it only applies to Ireland), complete with the required forms.

    Also note that apostates who know what they're doing receive automatic latae sententiae excommunication.

    Kiefer, that s the statement I felt like imparting as soon as I read the story,
    I then realized that they are both gone and they were just following a societal
    norm. They were both very good folk. It was an event I don't recall and
    there seems to be no long lasting scars.
