Exclamation vBulletin Update Thread - Post Here To Report a Bug or Ask Question

Post bugs, comments, questions, and feedback about the upgrade here.

Things I'm working on so far, feel free to add to the list:

    - WYSIWYG Text Editor Width: sometimes it's a bit small when doing quick reply and leaves a lot of empty space on left and right.
    - Facebook Notifications
    - Video Mod
    - Backwards compatibility with older browsers
    - Adjust style to fit on smaller screen resolutions

Features to be added over next few days:
    - Arcade Mod
    - SEO Mod

Thread closed as we prepare to move to vB 4.0 and current thread was for vB 3.8.x

K, so I just noticed this thread after making one myself, however I can't for the life of me figure out how to delete the old one. >.<

Ok, with the new forum setup I have noticed a few things (this is after just a few moments, if I find more I'll add them in):

The color is a little difficult for me to look at and I haven't found a way to change that (I may just be missing it all together though)

    Infinite time on post editing

Almost got locked out because I forgot to reset password (warning to anyone reading this going wtf?! while unable to log on)

I don't fully get the side portion that tells you if there are new posts in a group (General, Atheism, etc) and it seems to be slow on the response to updating it (matter of 30-45 seconds)
Faith, n. Belief without evidence in what is told by one who speaks without knowledge, of things without parallel.
Religion, n. A daughter of hope and fear, explaining to ignorance the nature of the unknowable.
Philosophy, n. A route of many roads leading from nowhere to nothing.

    - Thread edit time has now been changed to 60 minutes.

    - Locking out is now addressed here.

    - Which colours are you talking about? The overall theme?

    - Blog section/side portion I will address later today. I'll also try and make it look a little nicer in the postbit on the left, right now it looks a bit ugly.

I'm off to bed for now.

    Default Whaaaaaaaa....

    Hi Chris,
I hate to be a cry-baby, but I really do not like this new forum format.
Creating comments is more difficult because the former easy to use buttons for bold print, italics, block quotes, etc. are no longer available. I tried using some code to italicize something but it didn't work. (Oh, I see HTML code is off.) This is the most difficult to use format I've come across online, and I'm not a newbie to discussion groups.

I'll keep looking around the site to see if I can come up with more information to help me write my comments. I hope it doesn't get too frustrating or take too much time.

Also, there's some other print mingled with the top of the forum discussion list when I open that page. Hope it's not that the site isn't going to be all that compatible with my older computer. I'm poor and can't afford new stuff.

    Thanks!

Hey no worries, can you maybe post a screen shot of what the mingled print looks like? I don't see anything mingled.

Also, I dont understand what problem you are having with the commenting. Can you post the steps taken so I can try to reproduce the problem?

    Hi Chris,
I'm not sure how to go about posting the screen in any way to allow you to see what's on my computer screen. Sorry. I'll try to describe.
When I first come to the forum page the list of forum discussions is overlapped at the top by the menu with "User CP" "Blogs" "FAQ" and so on. This is what I mean by the print being mingled together.
And the box where I log in has some print peeking out from behind it. It could be I don't have all the necessary script reading plugins. I don't know. We're still using Windows ME. Yep, there are still some of these old guys hanging around yet. Can't afford to update at this time.

The reply windows with the old format had boxes to click for bold, italics, URL, etc. Now we don't have those available so if I want to type something in italics or add a link I don't know how to do it with this new format.
Maybe you'll have more options available soon and I should just be patient?

Oh, one more thing to add, Chris.
I noticed under Religion in your profile that you have "Atheist". Wouldn't "None" be more appropriate? After all, we are trying to avoid people thinking we're just another religion on the block. I have atheist friends at other sites that are quite emphatic about Atheism being not classified as a religion.
It would be nice if one day the word "religion" didn't even exist.

On your keyboard should be a button which says either PrtScrn, PrntScrn, Print Screen, or something similar. When you have what you want on the page, hit that button. Open Paint or any image program. Go under Edit then Paste. Save the file. Upload the file to http://imageshack.us/ Get the link provided, enter it here with [img.]enterlinkhere[/img.] but remove the .'s

I'll see what I can do about backwards compatibility. I suggest you try downloading the latest version of firefox from http://firefox.com. If your internet browser is too outdated then some of the newer scripts may not work.

I see your problem with the overlap, I guess the menu craps out when going 800 x 600 or below. I'll try and find a work around for that as well.

It was my understanding Atheism means no religion because it is the non-belief in god(s). The very definition of atheism implies no religion. Saying you're an atheist is a more absolute way to say "none"? In my mind when I see "Religion: Atheist" it translates to "Religion: None". I guess I see your point though, not everyone thinks the same and will probably mistranslate that.

Rationella, I changed your style to the default vBulletin style. Let me know if that makes things easier to read.
